The New Zealand Antique and Historical Arms Association (Incorporated) is dedicated to the discovery, collection and preservation of arms of all descriptions with a view to contributing to the pool of knowledge and to the balance of understanding of their place in society at all periods of history. NZAHAA Annual General Meeting 2009 will see the Annual General Meeting back in Christchurch, hosted by the Canterbury Branch. The date for the meeting is the 16th May, a bit later than our normal timing. Members will be advised of the venue with their Gazette mail out. 2009 – 50th Anniversary On the 19th September 1959 the inaugural meeting of the NZ Antique Arms Association was held in the T & G Buildings, 190 Hereford Street, Christchurch. That small band of enthusiasts probably did not envision the organisation lasting for another 50 years at that time, let alone becoming a National Association with some 900 members. Plans are in hand for some fitting celebrations and work is currently being done on the production of the Gazette in full colour for the 50th year to mark the occasion. This, along with the possible striking of a commemorative medallion, will give the occasion a 'collectors' memento for years to come. Half Year meeting of the Association – October 2009 To be hosted by the Ruahine Branch and scheduled to be held in Fielding on the 10th October. Further details will be sent to all members with their June and September Gazettes. National Shoot 2008 The 2008 National Shoot was hosted by the Wellington Branch on September 13-14 at the Hutt Valley NZDA range at Kaitoke. A disappointing turnout with the Management Committee currently considering an expansion of the disciplines to widen the traditional base of this annual event. 2009 Subscription renewals Branches will currently be thinking about sending out the annual invoices to their Branch members to renew their subscriptions for the 2009 year. The fees are discountable for part of the fee if paid by the 28th February. This is always a thankless task on the part of the Branch Secretary or Treasurer who act as volunteers.
